Buddy
Hi, my name is Buddy, and I'm a really lucky dachshund. I was rescued from a shelter
in South Bend, Indiana in September of 2003, and made my way to MWDR.
When I first went to my foster home, I was very fat, and could hardly move at all. My foster mom,
Nancy, put me on a big diet, and I lost all that fat. I learned how to run, walk
and do everything that I couldn't do when I was too big.
Then, a few months later, I got adopted by my new mom, Barbara. I have two other dogs
to live with and some cats. It took me a while to adjust, but now I am the boss
in the house, which is how it should be! My new mom took me to obedience school
at Chicago Canine Academy and I learned things for the first time in my life.
I guess that I'm pretty smart because I learned all the basic stuff, and then
went to school to learn to be a therapy dog. I worked hard, and passed my test
this year. Now I am a certified therapy dog with
Rainbow Animal Assisted Therapy. I get to go to schools and hospitals and visit with children and sick people.
I'm really good at it, and my mom says that everybody just loves me.
I love my new life! Thank you to everybody who helped me find my new mom
and my wonderful new home.
Thanks, Buddy
