Buddy
My name is Buddy. It used to be Bruno, but Dad wanted a little buddy, so...
I am an 8 year old, black-and-tan dachshund, who found himself bounced from a
home, to a shelter, to the capable hands of the MWDR in a matter of a few short
days in mid-April, 2004. I didn’t know it, but at the same time my new Mom and
Dad were applying to MWDR to adopt another member into their family.
They wanted another dachshund and my big sister, Molly (a senior chocolate-and-tan dachshund),
told them no puppy!
Once Mom and Dad’s application was approved, Claudia sent my bio to them via something
called e-mail. Mom said when she opened that message she had a feeling I was
the dog for them. She sent it on to Dad and he said I was a handsome, little dude.
Mom e-mailed back to Claudia and said, ‘We want to meet him!” Two weeks later
I was in the car with Christine and on my way to meet my new Mom, Dad
nd big-sister!
Mom and Dad fell for me right away, but I had a little convincing to do with Molly.
She let me know from the start that she is the big sister and the queen of the
house, but I’m pretty sure she likes me. She gave me a big slurp in my
ear last night!
Molly and I do important things together. We bark at the neighbor kids and cats,
patrol the back yard for gophers, chase the frogs back in to the pond at
the golf course, and keep our eyes out for trouble at the walkway by the lake.
We get to have fun, too. Molly says I can’t have the blue chew toy, but she’ll
let me play with any of the others that I want. My favorites are the rag bone and
the stuffed pig. Mom throws a toy, I get it and run the other way as fast as
possible –- I sure hope she’ll chase me! Molly and I really enjoy our
greenie snacks. Mom watches real close though because I gobble mine down and
try to snitch Molly’s. A guy has to try a little mischief, doesn’t he?
Mom and Dad told me they are really glad they went through MWDR to adopt me
and so am I! We plan to tell anyone looking for a new pet to check out the
rescue websites. Take care and best wishes for “happy tails” to all of you
dachshunds waiting for new homes!
Thanks, Buddy
