Success Stories

Max

Hello, friends!

I've waited for almost a year and a half, but now I'm ready to take my place among the MWDR success stories!

I found my forever home on Good Friday, 2004 and haven't looked back since. When I first got to my new home, I was confused after being rescued from the dog pound and moved around among different foster homes. Since I figured out that I'd found a forever home, though, I've gotten very comfortable and become a real homebody. In fact, I've gotten so into my daily routine that I try to get my people moving if they don't go to bed on time!

One reason I've settled in so well is the abundance of places in which I can curl up for a good sleep. I make my daily rounds of my doggy couch, my sleeping bag, the living room chairs and the bed. I love to tuck my nose under a blanket or between cushions. When I'm really lucky, one of my people stretches out on the couch and I can snuggle in between my person and the couch back. I can sleep like that for hours!! I also love having my ears scratched and, of course, dinner time!

I've also learned my way around my new neighborhood. During my first walks, I kept trying to go into wrong houses, but now, I know where I live! Everyone loves to watch me strut proudly down the sidewalk. They ask if I'm a puppy and are usually surprised to learn that I'm about ten years old. I get so many compliments on how cute I am! Well, except for that little boy who said, "Look, Daddy, a hotdog!" Kids these days! Even though I love my couch, I also like to take walks by Lake Michigan as long as I get a treat afterwards.

I've even learned to tolerate other small dogs pretty well, although I still get scared of big dogs and strangers who stand over me. So, I growl at then to show them what a rough tough guy they're dealing with. I may be short, but I'm feisty!

Bless you MWDR volunteers for giving older doxies like me a second chance at a happy life! Thanks to you, I'm living large with people who love me and keep me healthy and active!
