Transportation and Event Volunteers
Event Volunteers

MWDR has long been helping stray, abandoned and owner surrendered dachshunds in Illinois, Wisconsin and Indiana and other Midwest states as needed.

Our transportation volunteers are the link connecting doxies with rescue as well as their new foster families. They get doxies between veterinary appointments and to their foster homes.

As we are a 100% volunteer organization, we do events, big and small, throughout the year to raise money. Annual events such as CrossTown Bark Around in May (Wheaton IL), GermanFest in July (Milwaukee WI), and Germantown Oktoberfest in September (Germantown WI), along with smaller events and fundraisers.

Volunteers also create items for us to raffle, auction and sell. If you have a craft you would like to share, please contact a representative.

Regional Representatives
Volunteer

Our representatives are the managers of MWDR. In addition to being a foster home, our rep’s responsibilities include:

  • Overseeing foster homes in their area.  Helping acclimate new foster homes to the foster process and being their resource.
  • Coordinating all veterinary care for foster doxies at their foster homes.
  • Managing adoption applications that come in for fosters at their foster homes.  This will include working with potential adopters to explain the adoption process and then handling all adoption paperwork.
  • Coordinating incoming doxies from shelters and owner surrenders.
  • Promoting the availability of their foster doxies through the MWDR website, FaceBook, and adoption events.
Foster

Foster

MWDR foster families provide rescued Dachshunds with loving and stable environments at the most critical times.

Foster homes build a link between displacement and a forever home, and make all the difference in each Doxie’s life.

(MWDR is responsible for all vetting costs while dogs are in foster care.)
