My Story

Meet Mr. Teenie!  Teenie is a 3 y/o adorable guy being fostered in Madison, WI.

Teenie came into rescue as an owner surrender.  He was experiencing frequent seizures. Rescue immediately took him to the Universoty of Wisconson Vet School Neurology Department.  His seizures are now under control.  He has not had a seizure since 2/16/25.  YAY! He will need to be on life-long medications.  See Medical section of this bio for more details.

Teenie does well with other small dogs but could also be an only dog.  It was reported when he came into rescue that he does not like big dogs.

Teenie is a work in progress on going potty outside.  He does well if kept on a strict schedule. Teenie requires a fenced in yard.  When let out, he needs close supervision as he likes to eat poop, sticks, etc.

Teenie is desperate for love and attention.  Praise and scratches are his favorite things.  He actually purrs when his belly is scratched.  Teenie will crawl up on your chest and hug you.  It is so cute!

Teenie loves to be under the blankets or in a sun spot.  He sleeps in a couple of different areas at night.  He is crate trained.

Don't let the seizures scare you.  He is doing well.  All he wants is his happily ever after!

MEDICAL:

Teenie has idiopathis epilepsy.  This is a diagnosis of exclusion meaning that other causes of sezures such as tumors or infections have been ruled out. There is no "cure" for this disorder.  Seizures are managed with medications.  The goal for Teenie is to have a good quality of life while on medication, and to have 1 seizure or less every 3 months and for each seizer to last less than 3 minutes.

MEDICATIONS:

Phenobarbital:  15mg tablet; 1.5 tablets (3 total per day) every 12 hours.  We ourchase the med from the UW Vet School.  The cost is ~$1.05/day  This can probable be purchased for less $ at an on-line pharmacy
