Volunteer with MWDR
You can make a difference.
Volunteer Opportunities
Because of our dedicated volunteers and their hard work we have been successful in rescuing and re-homing Dachshunds since 2003. There are many meaningful ways to volunteer with MidWest Dachshund Rescue and make a difference in a Dachshund's life.
Transportation and Event Volunteers
MWDR has long been helping stray, abandoned, and owner-surrendered Dachshunds in Illinois, Wisconsin, Indiana, and other Midwest states as needed.
Our transportation volunteers are the link connecting doxies with rescue as well as their new foster families. They get Dachshunds between veterinary appointments and to their foster homes.
We post all of our transport needs on our Facebook page. Please follow our page!
As we are a 100% volunteer organization, we host events throughout the year to raise money. We staff our events with volunteers. When we have a fundraising event, we will post on our Facebook page for volunteers needed to help.
Our volunteers create or donate items we use at the events to raffle or to auction. Please contact us if you would like to donate an item(s).

Regional Representatives
Our representatives are the managers of MWDR. In order to be a rep you MUST be able to fosters, other responsibilities include:
-
Overseeing foster homes in their area. Helping acclimate new foster homes to the foster process and being their resource.
-
Coordinating all veterinary care for foster Dachshunds at their foster homes.
-
Managing adoption applications that come in for fosters at their foster homes. This will include working with potential adopters to explain the adoption process and then handling all adoption paperwork.
-
Coordinating incoming Dachshunds from shelters and owner surrenders.
-
Promoting the availability of their foster Dachshunds through the MWDR website, Facebook, and adoption events.

Foster
MWDR foster families provide rescued Dachshunds with loving and stable environments at the most critical times.
Foster homes build a link between displacement and a forever home, and make all the difference in each Doxie’s life.
(MWDR is responsible for all vetting costs while dogs are in foster care.)
